Palms are not lacking in Puerto Rico, and if they seem invisible to the islanders, it becomes for an outsider a symbol of the island. This symbol becomes dual, in a precarious balance, recalling the alienation of the Puertorican identity : between multiculturalism (Creole, Spanish, American), and American acculturation. The spectator, when he looks at the sculpture, can also see himself in the mirror that serves as a base for the pieces.
