Found in a wasteland in the industrial suburbs of San Juan (Puerto Rico), this abandoned urinal was tagged with a facsimile of the signature of Marcel Duchamp, then left on the spot. If the object is different from the original Duchamp’s ready-made, it stays as a signal of an essential piece of the history of contemporary art. The photo acts in the same way as the original representation of Fountain in 1917: the last image of an object that disappeared in the end.
Trouvé dans une décharge dans la banlieue de San Juan (Porto Rico), cet urinoir abandonné a été affublé d'un facsimilé de la signature de Marcel Duchamp, puis laissé sur place. Si l'objet est différent du ready-made original, il reste ici un signal d'une pièce essentielle de l'histoire des arts plastiques contemporains. La photo agit de la même manière que la représentation originale de l'oeuvre Fountain de 1917 : dernière image d'un objet finalement égaré.
